According to police, eight armed men, carrying assault rifles, were involved. Seventeen individuals—13 men and four women—were pronounced dead at the scene, and 15 others sustained injuries. Authorities stated that the suspects allegedly took cellphones from some patrons before escaping in two unidentified vehicles. The motive behind this shooting is currently unknown.
The second shooting took place on Sunday morning, at approximately 1:46 a.m. local time, at an entertainment venue in Lwandle township, near Cape Town. This attack resulted in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to 11 others. Five victims died at the scene, while another five succumbed to their injuries after being transported to the hospital. Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with this incident and have established a multi-disciplinary team to track down those responsible.
