Details
Team Ninja has confirmed that the upcoming action-soulslike title, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, will debut on March 4, 2027. This sequel will be released across multiple platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the new Nintendo Switch 2. Notably, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will gain access to the game from day one.
In the interim, a free alpha demo is currently available for a limited period on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This trial version will remain active through September 30. The developer stated that the demo allows players to experiment with an in-progress character creator and engage in online multiplayer with up to three participants. Players can "explore the open field of Changban, join forces with Liu Bei’s army in fierce battles against the pursuing forces of Cao Cao, and encounter demons inspired by legendary Chinese classics," according to Team Ninja. Successfully completing the demo will reward players with a special "Fledgling Phoenix Helmet" cosmetic accessory for use in the complete game.
Why it matters
The original Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty achieved significant acclaim within the soulslike genre, and its successor, Wings of Ember, is highly anticipated by fans. The early access demo offers players a valuable opportunity to experience the game's atmosphere and mechanics firsthand. Furthermore, its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass from day one is expected to broaden its reach significantly, potentially contributing to a substantial player base upon its official release.
