Details
41-year-old superstar LeBron James announced in July that he had signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the 76ers. This move followed weeks of speculation about where the four-time NBA champion would land as a free agent after eight seasons and one title with the Los Angeles Lakers. James has previously won two titles with Miami, one with Cleveland, and another with the Lakers.
In the game, James made his only shot attempt from the floor and converted all eight of his free-throw attempts. He played 18 minutes and 4 seconds in the first half. 76ers coach Nick Nurse observed some positive aspects from his starters playing together for the first time, but also noted areas for improvement, such as turnovers, acknowledging the early stage of the preseason.
Why it matters
LeBron James's arrival in Philadelphia is seen as a significant step towards the 76ers' goal of winning their first championship in 43 years. James's experience and leadership are expected to greatly benefit the team's talented roster. However, the team's ability to build chemistry and manage external expectations will be crucial factors in determining their success throughout the season.
